The seemingly overnight success stories open up about what it's like to live and work in a house focused on content creation. The 21-year-old, who has more than 14.7 million TikTok followers, also teased that the show might change some perceptions about him and his fellow creators, who all live together in a $5 million Los Angeles mansion. “I think this show is gonna surprise a lot of people, [and feature] things you may [have] never seen of your favorite creator or maybe the creator you absolutely hate,” he said. Who lives in the hype house?

"We started getting interviewed by Forbes, The New York Times. Now we're the Hype House." Because it’s a new series, Hype House doesn’t yet have a set schedule. However, similar Netflix reality shows tend to release two seasons per year, so if renewed, Hype House could return in summer 2022.

Thomas Petrou

In simple terms, the Hype House is a collective of content creators based in LA. The name can also refer to the actual mansion where they all live and film their videos. "This whole house is designed for productivity," Thomas Petrou, who is credited with helping to create the House along with Chase Hudson and Daisy Keech, told The New York Times. "If you want to party, there’s hundreds of houses that throw parties in L.A. every weekend. We don’t want to be that." On January 7, almost a year after it was announced by Netflix, the Hype House reality show finally arrived. The eight-episode series provides a look inside the lives of TikTok's most famous overnight sensations.

It wasn’t that we needed less people in this house, it was that living with 10 people was a lot, and Alex and Kouvr are adults in a serious relationship and they kind of needed their own space. It wasn’t this end of the world that everyone’s talking about.” Warren and Annon are still living together — though, sadly, they haven’t graduated from fake weddings to real ones. The collab house, which serves as a headquarters for some of TikTok’s biggest stars, is certainly not the first of its kind. "Hype House", released by Netflix on Friday 7 January, is a reality show following a group of Gen-Z TikTok creators living and creating content together. TikTok account that is also the name of an actual house where TikTok, Instagram and YouTube influencers came together to live in Los Angeles.

It has around 19 members, who are made up of some of the most influential TikTok stars. Addison Rae and Charlie & Dixie Amelio were part of the inaugural group, although they have since left to focus on their solo careers. In 2014 members of an early collab channel called Our Second Life lived and worked together in what they called the 02L Mansion. The next year, nearly all the top talent on Vine moved into a large apartment complex at 1600 Vine Street.

Since then, though, they have moved a third time and their latest digs might be the coolest yet. "Imagine a fraternity filled with people that have millions of followers and dollars and a ring light," Nikita Dragun joked in the trailer. "A year and a half ago, we were moving into a house just full of friends trying to make content," he said.

The group's TikTok account has earned over 20 million fans and more than 829 million likes. It was announced in August 2020 that a reality series focused on the group, called The Hype Life, would be produced. The phenomenon of a house for online creators to live together and collaborate isn’t new. Before the Hype House, there was Team 10, Clout House, and Vlog Squad.

Member Mia Hayward said that it is "embarrassing" when visitors come over, adding that, "It looks like no-one cares about this house, and it's a really nice house, and it's gross." Despite the mansion's staggering cost, the Hype House doesn't always appear clean and tidy on the show; in the second episode, piles of clothes and trash are shown strewn across the kitchen floor. The mansion has a large open-plan kitchen featuring a central square island and huge open pantries stocked full of food.

The members had been living in the former Clout House, but they made a move to a Mediterranean-style mansion in December of 2020. Though the Hype House members are all internet stars, they're about to get even more famous. On April 22, Thomas announced that the residents had been filming a reality show together, and that it will debut on Netflix in "a while." While highlighting some of TikTok's most renowned creators, the series also delves deep into the friendships and personal lives of the show's cast.

After months of drama (more on that later), Keech, a fitness influencer and one of Hype House’s co-founders, was the first to leave in March 2020. So-called collab houses, also known as content houses, are an established tradition in the influencer world. Over the last five years they have formed a network of hubs across Los Angeles. LOS ANGELES — Hype House, the physical location of a new content creator collective, is a Spanish-style mansion perched at the top of a hill on a gated street in Los Angeles. It has a palatial backyard, a pool and enormous kitchen, dining and living quarters. Since the group was officially created in December of 2019, the physical location of the Hype House has changed several times.

The living arrangement was set up by Thomas Petrou and Chase Hudson. In late 2019, they posted a video with numerous members of the group hanging around a pink staircase that went on to receive over 2 million views. Originally, after some members of staff were “removed” from the management company, five of the girls returned to form this newer version of the house. Just a House was originally the Not a Content House, but after most of the members left following accusations of misconduct against management, the girls made it clear that NACH was no longer active. A house that fully consists of members within the LGBTQIA+ sphere, Pride House stands out amongst the crowd of other houses.

“We have ten 20-year-olds living in a $5 million house together, filming content all day,” Petrou says in the series trailer. This Hype House is located just outside of Los Angeles in Santa Rosa Valley, and it reportedly sits on 20 acres of land. It has a home theater, a large pool with a terrace-style hot tub, and a ton of natural light that would put every social media influencer’s ring light to shame.

"Thank u @thehypehousela for letting me b in ur show even tho I’m not quite an official member😁🤟 okay go add to ur list now," she wrote on Instagram. While the Hype House originated in a mansion in LA, seven months after moving into that first home, the group packed up and left for an even more epic place. The members took over the former residence of the Clout Gang and their new digs include a gym, elevator, and what he called the disco room.
